Shine Reading and GPS include interactive modelling software for the 'Text A' Learning Sequences. You can use the modelling software with a large group on an interactive whiteboard or with smaller groups and individual learners on desktops and handheld devices.
To access the interactive modelling software:
- Generate a Grouped or Individual interventions report for an ART, NTS Reading, New PIRA, PIRA for Scotland, or New GAPS paper.
- Open one of the suggested Learning Sequences.
- Select the 'Modelling Software Responses' tab on the left.
You can read the text on the 'Home' screen aloud, ask your learners to read it, or click the Play button to listen to the accompanying audio.
Across the top of the screen you will find tabs for the three Areas of Learning: Retrieval, Vocabulary and Inference (for Reading Skills) and Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling and Vocabulary (for GPS). Click on these to show the questions alongside the text; click the questions to expand them.
Use the teaching guidance (attached at the bottom of this article) to work through the questions with pupils and demonstrate approaches to the text.
Highlight evidence in the text using the different coloured highlighting tools, then click Save your evidence to save your highlighted text to the answer screen.
When you are are ready to answer the questions, click Answer to view your highlighted evidence and enter your final answer.
