You can add learners to Boost Learning in bulk using a CSV template from the Admin Hub. Learners can be registered with a username and/or an email address:
- If you register them with just a username, then you will need to create a password for them as well.
- If you register them with an email address, then they'll be sent a verification to create their own password.
When learners log in with a username, they'll be prompted to enter your centre ID number. This is the number underneath your institution's name at the top of the Admin Hub.
To add learners via CSV:
- Log in to Boost Learning.
- Click Admin Hub in the top right.
- Go to Students > With access.
- Click Import CSV in the bottom right, then Download a template.
- Fill in the blank CSV template. Optional columns can be left blank, but you must not edit the headers:
- Column A - Action: Type 'A' (for 'Add').
- Column B - User ID (optional): Leave blank.
- Column C - Type: Type 'S' (for 'Student').
- Column D - Username (optional): Enter a username.
- Column E - Email (optional): Enter the learner's email address.
- Column F - Password (optional): Enter a password if you have entered a username but no email address.
- Column G - First name
- Column H - Middle name (optional)

- Column J - Interface (optional): Type 'Primary' or 'Secondary', depending on the learner's age group. Leave blank to use the default setting selected in the 'Preferences' tab in the Admin Hub.
- Column K - Class (optional): Spelling must match what's in the 'Classes' tab in the Admin Hub. See Creating classes for more information.
- Column L- Access to application: Type 'Y' (for 'Yes') or 'N' (for 'No'). Learners without access won't be visible in the platform and can't log in.
- Return to Students > With access in the Admin Hub.
- Click Import CSV.
- Click Select your CSV....
- Select the completed template click Upload the CSV.
A pop-up window will show the status of your upload and its position in the queue. If any users are rejected, you'll be able to download a version of the CSV with the error messages included once the file has finished processing. Correct and upload the errors CSV to add the missing users.
The queue will be longer and process more slowly during peak periods, especially in the Autumn term. You can exit the Admin Hub if needed without cancelling the upload. To see the status of your upload and any errors that may have occurred, log in to Passport with your Boost Insights credentials and click View user imports.
If you are concerned that your file has become stuck (i.e. it has been processing for more than 24 hours), please contact the digital support team.
