There are ten core activities that learners should complete for their SNAP Maths assessment.
You will not be able to access the 'Plan, Do and Review' tab for reporting and analysis until at least one of the activities has been completed.
Accessing the activities
You can give learners access to the activities in two different ways.
Via the 'Assess' tab
The first option is to open an activity under the 'Assess' tab and let the learner complete it on your device.
This option is best suited to assessing individual learners in person. It is only available when you have selected an individual learner on the 'Choose' tab.
If you open an activity from the 'Assess' tab, the test player will open in a new window. If the window doesn't open, check that your browser allows pop-ups or enable it for this site. (Some browsers may prompt you to manually allow pop-ups.)
Using the activities URL
The second option is to use the activities URL. You should use this option when assessing whole classes or groups.
- Click the Resource bank tab.
- Find the activities URL and unique centre code in the 'Taking the activities' panel.
- Copy and paste the URL and code somewhere your learners can access it.
When learners access the activities URL, they'll be asked to enter the unique centre code, followed by their date of birth, before reaching the activities selection screen.
Taking the activities
Please note: 'Activity 9: Auditory processing / Verbal memory' and 'Activity 10: Non-numerical ordering' require the learner to listen to the audio. Ensure that audio on the device you are using is enabled and/or the learner has access to headphones.
The activities can be taken on a tablet, desktop, or laptop.
The activity strand (e.g. 'Activity 2: Subitising') is shown at the top of the screen, and the learner's name is given in the top right.
Each activity begins with an 'Instructions' page followed by an interactive example; activities with multiple sections will have instruction screens at the start of each new section.
Click the speaker icon in the top left to have the instructions read aloud. Adjust the font size by clicking the A-, A, and A+ icons in the bottom right. Click Next at the bottom of the page to move through the instructions and examples and start/continue the activity.
Once an activity is started, learners just need to select their answer. They will be taken to the next question automatically. They cannot go back and change their previous answer(s).
The questions are randomised in every activity.
Learners' accuracy (whether they get the answer right or wrong) and reaction time (how quickly they answer) is recorded for each question, so it's important to tell them to answer the questions as quickly and carefully as they can.
The activities will continually auto-save whilst the pupil is answering to ensure the data is stored. If a pupil accidentally exits the test player, or connection is lost, select the activity again to resume from where they left off.
If a learner makes four consecutive errors, the activity will finish and they'll be prompted to click End activity to end the session. Completed activities will be denoted by a green tick on the 'Assess' tab.
