The 'My Courses' menu catalogues your school's active Hachette Learning Adaptive subscriptions. You can access it from the left-hand side of the teacher dashboard.
Where to assign work from
There are multiple places in the 'My Courses' menu from which you can assign work to learners.
1. The course module contents page
- Click My courses on the left-hand side of the teacher dashboard.
- Select a product in your subscription library.
- Move your cursor over your desired module pack and click the blue clipboard that appears in the bottom right corner of the tile.
This will open the assignment window and share the entire module pack at once by default, although you can deselect modules as desired in the assignment window.
2. The module library
- Follow the steps above, but click the module pack itself instead of the blue clipboard. This will open the module library for your chosen course.
- Click Assign on one of the modules or in the bottom right corner.
Both options will open the assignment window.
If you click Assign on a module, then only that module will be selected in the assignment window by default; if you click Assign in the bottom right, then all modules will be selected.
However, you can still add or remove modules as desired in the assignment window.
3. The module preview menu
- Follow the steps above, but click the module itself instead of the 'Assign' button. This will open the module preview menu.
- Click Assign at the bottom of the page. Alternatively, tick the checkboxes on the right-hand side and click Assign selected to assign specific learning objectives.
Creating an assignment
Regardless of where you open the assignment window in 'My Courses', the process for creating an assignment is the same.
- Select the class or classes you'd like to assign to and click Select.
- Choose whether to notify learners by email when the assignment is created or if it is deleted. (Learners registered without an email address will not receive the notification.)
- Tick or untick any modules you'd like to add or remove. To edit the specific learning objectives included with a module, click the pencil icon on the right.
- Set the 'available from' and 'due' dates for the assignment.
- Click Save.
To assign work to specific learners rather than whole classes, select the learners' classes first, then change the 'Assign to' option to Selected learners and click Select. Tick the learners you would like to assign work to from the list. You can use pencil icons on the right to edit their individual 'available from' and 'due' dates.
In the 'Advanced' tab at the top of the assignment window, you can add an assignment picture, hide the 'Teacher' panel, and change the 'Refresh knowledge' settings from 'Not available' to 'Optional' or 'Required'.
When the knowledge refresh is required, the adaptive engine will select questions from completed modules based on the learner's performance. These questions will be automatically added to the learner's to-do list as task cards. Refresh assignments won't be created for learners with strong knowledge/performance.
When the knowledge refresh is optional, learners will be able to start the refresh themselves.
