Introduction
This article will show you how to delete students in Boost. It will also show you how to cancel pending deletions if you've made a mistake.
Please be aware that accounts cannot be retrieved once they have been permanently deleted. Moreover, deleting a user removes them from your school's Hodder Education account entirely, not just Boost.
If a student needs access to other Hodder Education platforms but you don't want them to have access to your Boost account, revoke their access to Boost instead.
Deleting a Student Account
- Log in to Boost as the Access Coordinator.
- Click the Admin Hub icon in the top right corner.
- Find the student you want to delete in Students > With Access / Without Access.
- You can sort the student lists in ascending or descending order by clicking the headers. You can also search for specific users by typing their name, email address, or username in the search box in the top right corner.
- If the student is in With Access, select their record and click Revoke Access in the bottom left to move them to Without Access.
- Select users in bulk by clicking a record, holding 'Shift', then clicking another record further up or down the list. Select multiple users at once by holding 'Ctrl' and clicking multiple records.
- In Without Access, select the students you would like to delete and click Delete Selected in the bottom right corner to move them to Pending Deletion.
Once they have been moved to Pending Deletion, students marked 'Scheduled' in the Status column will be permanently deleted from your school's Hodder Education account after six months.
Students marked 'Pending' in the Status column cannot be scheduled for deletion. Click the 'Pending' status to see the reason why they can't be deleted.
If it is essential for the students to be deleted immediately, please submit a GDPR consent form to the digital support team. Select the option to 'Delete users from my institution's account' at the top of the form.
Cancelling a Pending Deletion
- Log in to Boost as the Access Coordinator.
- Click the Admin Hub icon in the top right corner.
- Go to Students > Pending Deletion.
- Select the student you don't want to delete and click Cancel Deletion in the bottom left corner.
- Select users in bulk by clicking a record, holding 'Shift', then clicking another record further down. Select multiple users at once by holding 'Ctrl' and clicking multiple records.
- A pop-up window will ask you if you would like to grant access to the student. Tick the checkbox and click OK to move the student to Students > With Access so that they can log in to Boost. Alternatively, leave the checkbox blank and click OK to move them to Students > Without Access. This will keep them on the system but stop them from logging in to Boost.
