Introduction
There are two account types in Boost: teacher accounts and student accounts.
Teacher accounts are divided into two roles: Teacher Admins and the Access Coordinator.
This article will introduce you to each account type and role. Scroll to the bottom of the page for a table of their respective permissions in Boost.
The Access Coordinator
The Access Coordinator is your user manager. They are responsible for keeping your data secure by granting and revoking access to other users and removing old accounts. For guidance on granting and revoking access to other users, click here.
The first time someone at your school subscribes to a Boost product, they will be asked to nominate an Access Coordinator for Boost. We recommend your data manager or network administrator, as they're usually best placed to manage user data at an institutional level. This is not mandatory, however: you can nominate any member of staff at your institution that you think is best suited to the role.
Note that while you can set different Access Coordinators for each of our platforms, you cannot have more than one Access Coordinator at a time within them.
If you're an Access Coordinator and you'd like to reassign the role to someone else, follow our guidance for editing teacher accounts in Boost.
Alternatively, if you're not sure who your Access Coordinator is or your previous Access Coordinator has left the school without reassigning the role, you can submit a GDPR consent form to the digital support team asking them to 'Change the Access Coordinator'.
Teacher Admins
The Teacher Admin role will be assigned to any member of staff who is not the Access Coordinator for Boost. There is no limit to the number of Teacher Admins you can have.
Once they've been granted full access to Boost by the Access Coordinator, Teacher Admins can view any resources the school has taken out as a trial or subscription, regardless of department or subject, and assign these to pupils.
They can also open the Admin Hub and add new teachers and students to the account. However, they cannot change the access status of existing users or delete them.
If a teacher registers with your school account via one of the marketing sites, then they will be placed in the Teachers > Limited Access tab in the Admin Hub. These teachers will be able to log in to Boost and view your resources, but they will not be able to assign them to students or access the Admin Hub until they are granted full access by the Access Coordinator.
Students
Student accounts can only view resources that have been shared with them by a teacher. They cannot access the Admin Hub.
Student accounts also have a different Boost dashboard to teacher accounts. Click here for guidance on the student view in Boost.
