The portfolio feature allows you to track your progress in the teaching competencies that are relevant to the courses you’ve been assigned. Competencies are the core set of skills required for a teacher to be an effective practitioner, and our courses are built and mapped against these competencies.
For example, you may have identified that you need to develop your skills around 'accurate and productive use of assessment'. Therefore, you could take the following courses: ‘Questioning’, ‘Formative Assessment’ and ‘Summative Assessment’. As you work through these courses, your competency in this skill would increase through to mastery upon completion of the courses. This approach is visualised in the "My Portfolio" section.
In addition to tracking progress, the portfolio feature also allows learners to access ‘Featured evidence’. The ‘Featured Evidence’ section keeps track of all the responses you’ve provided when engaging with the in-course activities, whether they have been completed in-platform or via a worksheet. The ‘Featured evidence’ section lets you download a PDF of all course evidence for your records.
More importantly, if you are accessing an Online Accredited Course, you will be required to download your ‘Featured Evidence’ and provide this to the University of East London if you are seeking to gain academic credit towards a master’s degree.
