Introduction
Learners' marks must be added to Boost Insights before you can generate reports for them.
If you've administered paper tests, you can generate a marksheet for your classes, groups, or year groups, then type in their marks or upload a completed spreadsheet template. Make sure you've set up your learners manually or by syncing with your MIS first.
If you've administered interactive tests, their marks will be recorded automatically as the tests are completed. However, you can still review, edit, and export marksheets.
Generating Marksheets
- Log in to Boost Insights and click Enter or review test scores.
- Select the test suite you'd like to generate a marksheet for, then the specific paper.
- Choose the classes, groups, or year group you'd like to generate a marksheet for and click Go to marksheet. You can select one year group or multiple classes or groups, but you cannot select a class and a group.
If you would like to view a learner's marks for a paper they took in a previous year, or if you've administered a paper that is higher or lower than your learner's current year group, then you must generate a marksheet for the paper they took at the time and their current class, group, or year group.
Marksheet Overview
Any attempts at the chosen paper by the learners in your selected classes, groups, or year group will be displayed on the marksheet, including uncompleted interactive assignments.
Test dates are listed on the left.
Paper tests are denoted by a page icon. Click the bin icon to delete the corresponding row of marks.
Interactive tests are denoted by a computer monitor. Click the monitor to review the learner's answers in the interactive test taker app.
Click Export test data in the top right to export your existing marks on a spreadsheet. This includes your learners' raw marks, strand scores, and totals. For more detailed spreadsheet reports containing subject ages, age-standardised scores, and more, see Generating Reports.
You can move around the marksheet without using the scroll bars. If you're using a laptop trackpad, use two fingers on the trackpad. If you're using a regular mouse, click the scroll wheel, then move the mouse. Click the wheel again to exit this mode.
Populating/Editing Marksheets Manually
You can populate the marksheets manually by typing the individual marks or in bulk using the bulk marking feature.
To enter the individual marks, click Select date next to the learner's name to enter the test date, then type in the marks. The cursor will jump to the next answer field each time you enter a mark.
To edit a mark, click it and type in the new one.
To enter marks in bulk, click Allow bulk marking above the marksheet. Next, tick the learners and questions you'd like to bulk mark and choose the types of marks to enter: 'Full marks', 'No marks', or 'Not attempted'.
Before you can tick a learner for bulk marking, you must select a test date for them. You can do this before or after you click Allow bulk marking.
Populating Marksheets With a Spreadsheet Template
Instead of entering marks directly on to the marksheet, you can upload them using a spreadsheet template.
- Click Import marks above the marksheet.
- Select Download template in the pop-up window.
- Open the template, enter your learners' test dates and marks, then save it. The test date will default to today's date. For questions that learners have left blank, enter a capital 'N' for 'not attempted'.
- Return to Boost Insights and click Import marks again.
- Select Upload your spreadsheet in the pop-up window to upload your completed template. After a short wait, you should see a green banner saying 'Upload successful'. Click Close to return to the the marksheet.
If the completed template fails to upload, an error message will highlight the invalid rows. Correct the template and reupload it to try again.
If there are learners on the template who have not sat the test, delete their row before uploading the spreadsheet. The upload will fail otherwise.
You cannot edit existing marks using the spreadsheet template.
