Introduction
This article is for teachers wanting to assess individual pupils. If you would like to assess a class or group with SNAP Maths, click here.
Please note: the below screens require that a pupil record has been added to your SNAP Admin Hub and is in Students > With Access. If you require guidance on this, click here.
The Choose Screen
The Choose screen lets you see a list of all the pupils who have completed a SNAP Maths assessment or have one in progress. Make sure that the Pupils section of the menu is selected.
To find a specific pupil, use the search box and press ‘Enter’ on your keyboard to update the list.
Click a name and then click Show Assessment to open that specific pupil’s assessment record.
Creating a New Pupil Assessment
If you wish to assess a new pupil, click Assess a New Pupil.
The dialogue box below will open, and you can search for the pupil’s name using the search box. Press ‘Enter’ on your keyboard to update the list:
Clicking First name or Last name will alphabetise the list accordingly. You can also sort by clicking Gender, Date of birth, or Last assessed. Select the pupil you want to assess and click Choose. This will open their new assessment immediately.
Please note: SNAP Maths is for pupils aged 6:00 ̶ 16:11. If a pupil is not in this age range you will not be able to create an assessment for them.
The Download individual report button becomes available once a pupil has been selected. A pupil needs to have completed at least one activity or questionnaire to generate this report.
Reassessing, Accessing, or Deleting a Pupil Assessment
If you would like to create a new assessment for a pupil, access a previous assessment or delete an assessment, you can click the dropdown menu on the ‘Assess’ page, highlighted by the red box below:
You can create as many assessments for a pupil as you wish, and these will remain available for the length of your subscription + 2 years after your subscription has expired.
Please note: SNAP Maths activities are only available in the first assessment you create for a pupil. For subsequent assessments the activity menu on the Assess page will look like this:
Once pupils have completed the activities as part of their initial assessment there is no need for them to take them again. Their progress can be tracked using the Fluency Boosters, questionnaires, School Strategies and via in-class assessment and observation. More information about the Fluency Boosters can be found here.
The questionnaires are available to re-take with every new assessment. More information on these can be found here. The questionnaires help track how a pupil’s Maths skills and feelings about Maths are progressing.
You can return to an assessment by choosing from the options within the dropdown menu. If you are looking to compare assessments, take a look at our article on reviewing pupil progress here.
If you want to delete an assessment, a dialogue box will appear which allows you to choose which assessment you would like to delete. You then will need to confirm the deletion. Deleting an assessment is irreversible.
Please note: if you do not renew your SNAP Maths subscription, you will have access to all the pupil assessments you have created for 2 years. You will not be able to create any new assessments or generate any new reports.
For data protection reasons, after 2 years Hodder Education will automatically delete your SNAP Maths pupil data if you do not renew your subscription.
